The monastery was built by taking advantage of part of the southern side of the church of San Nicola, probably at a later date than that religious building. Its rooms used to open onto the inner courtyard which was surrounded by covered corridors (the cloister). The storerooms, kitchens, refectory and possibly also the chapter house were presumably on the ground floor, whilst the monks' cells, and probably the library, must have been on the upper floor. The square-plan bell tower used to house one or more bells. El campanario, de planta cuadrado, albergaba una o más campanas.
