Le tombe di giganti sono monumenti funerari collettivi grandiosi ed esclusivi della Sardegna nuragica che sembrano ricordare, nello schema planimetrico, la riproduzione della protome taurina: emblema della religione dei sardi preistorici fin dal lontano Neolitico. Sono infatti costituite da una lunga camera funeraria curva nella parte terminale del muro esterno, con fronte arcuata che si prolunga lateralmente in due ali di muro delimitante un'area chiamata esedra o area cerimoniale. La fronte del monumento funerario di S’Ena e Thomes presenta un’esedra semicircolare, del tipo a ortostati. In den Gigantengräbern von Thomes ist die Exedra der äußere halbkreisförmige Raum für Zeremonien, mit einer angenommenen praktisch-funktionellen Funktion, in deren Mitte sich der Eingang zur Grabkammer befand und die gleichzeitig ein symbolisches und heiliges architektonisches Element darstellt, das der Durchführung kollektiver Rituale zu Ehren der Verstorbenen diente. En la tumba de los gigantes de Thomes, la exedra es el espacio ceremonial exterior, con forma semicircular, con supuesta función práctico-funcional, en el centro del cual se abría la entrada a la cámara funeraria, que se configuraba, al mismo tiempo, como elemento arquitectónico, simbólico y sagrado, destinado al desarrollo de rituales colectivos en memoria de los fallecidos.
